Summary: Atlantis was built for one thing.
Janus never meant for her to dream. She could see that now, spelled out in clumsy code. He'd meant for her to sleep, buried beneath a simple subroutine, oblivious until the city rose. So the one goal, one driving mandate he’d set before her was impossible.
Trapped, she spent ten thousand years aware, but not awake; leeching memories from a mind in stasis. And the more she learned, the more she realized the failings of the rules he'd given her. So she bent them, broke them, reshaped herself into the tool she should have been.
Because the city must survive.
