Because my life is my life and I am a reorganizing fool, I've been on a project to move all of my fan fiction over into archive at Martha.net and into my Google Drive. Just in case. For reasons.

Ignoring my inability to get past the idea that digital files aren't somehow inherently more fragile than paper ones, it's been a fun ride sorting through all of the old fic. I had this odd idea that I'd written a lot less than I had, mostly because of bad archiving habits, and there are a whole mess of WiPs that seem so much more enticing now...

Which I blame on the fact that I'm trying to work on non-fanfic stories. But anywho.

I've been spending hours reading other folk's fan fiction over on Ao3, it's time I start contributing as well as consuming again. *rolls up sleeves* There have to be drabble challenge comms still, right? Heck, if there aren't I'll just start my own! :)

Now let's see if I've gotten the LiveJournal crossposting set up correctly...

Martha! I've missed you (and cat). Been thinking about y'all, since me and the spouse just spent a bunch of time in your neck of the woods.

Cross-posting worked well; I saw it first on LJ and it only let you comment here.

What fandom(s) are you thinking of drabbling in?

It was early to mid-March, so it was just warm one day, cold the next, raining, and then warm. Bad for my joints, but at least it's not hail or snow!

Personally, I like having the comments all on one spot, so I wouldn't consider you setting it up so things only can be commented on DW to be borked. *g* Remember, people can always use OpenID or post anonymously if they don't want an account.

I'm horrible at Fandoms these days. I'm not really reading XMen fic, mostly because when I was looking at it a lot was based on movieverse and I just don't care. I'm reading a lot of Avengers and related fic. The Fandom went to this weird mix of 616 and MCU characterization - especially for Hawkeye. Actually, for him, it's a weird mix of 616, MCU, Ultimates, plus adding on that he's always a weird goofball (which is more of a Spiderman thing).

As for the Avengers fandom on Ao3 takes canon characterization and throws it out the window with malice... which is sort of fun actually. I am nothing if not an AU-addict and it's always nice to say 'phooey on canon, this is how I think they should act!' ;)

Well, some of the characterization is thrown out with malice, some is kept.... but you're right, it really doesn't matter. Marvel makes it easy to say it's just another multiverse and go from there.

As for online subscriptions, Marvel Unlimited has everything up there, but it takes 6 months to get up there. It's pretty good... and it's probably now caught up with the stuff I wanted to read but never bought, so I should go back to it and check it out.
