or: How to catch up on posting to LJ comms and archives without pissing off the readers (and the mods!)

Someone has recently pointed out to me that I've been writing fics, but not posting them outside of this LJ. It's odd to think I've moved past the point where feedback was the primary reason that I was writing. But I do love the two-way interaction that fandom offers, and realizing this means no readers (outside the flist), I decided it was time to play catch-up.

Not thinking, I started uploading to Wraitbait... at which point Wraithbait's mods asked very politely that I not post more than three fics every other day or so, as otherwise I flood the archive (which made me feel like a dork for not thinking of that myself! Doh. -_-;;)

That in turn made me think about how to post without flooding the comms as well. Since both of the comms I have friended ([livejournal.com profile] atlantisfic, [livejournal.com profile] stargate_fanfic) are low traffic comms (averaging one to two posts a day) I went in search of a comm where I could do daily posts. Since I have a lot of fanfic to wade through, and I'm all for 'reruns' of fics older than a year.

Wandering around on [livejournal.com profile] sga_newsletter's profile, I found a link to [livejournal.com profile] sga_noticeboard, which looks like it might be what I need. *browses profile* ... Hmm, or maybe not. Looks like they don't want links to drabble postings or 'short-shorts' posted one at a time, just in batch posts. But that sort of defeats the purpose of the 'one-a-day' idea.

So maybe I just need to pick five archives and post one day a week to each archive. *ponders* Then each archive will never get more than one post a week from me, and I should still show up on [livejournal.com profile] sga_newsletter on a daily basis. Then again, having to remember what headers and rules go with which comms was the reason I cut back down to start with. Hmm.

Mayhaps the easiest thing to do would be to make a new LJ for posting only purposes, then create a template for each day and go through and slot out all the fics I have (then I can 'bump' a fic when I write something new). I have at least three months of five-a-week posts ready to que up... which makes me miss the webcomic. Hmm, wonder if I could LJ the webcomic... *ponders size limitations*

(And we'll ignore the fact that I'm not worrying about all of the non-SGA fics that have ben slowly taking over my brain... ^_~ *grin*)

Anywho, time to setup a new LJ ([livejournal.com profile] fic_by_khriskin, done! ^_^) and find some comms... *wanders off*
